“He wants to take for his brother”
So much for the victim’s version. Very different from that of the others, including that of the Namur public prosecutor’s office. The one who is being prosecuted for attempted murder is Rudy, and not Carlo, whom Eric nevertheless designates as the one who stabbed him. “He wants to take for his brother”he assures. “For me, whether it’s one or the other, it doesn’t change anything. But for a victim, it’s important that the right person is convicted. With the risk that by pleading this you acquit Carlo”adds his lawyer Me Balon Perin.
Rudy claims to have come down to lend a hand to his brother-in-law who was fighting with Eric. “I had one stab wound, not two.” A request for reclassification as assault and battery is requested. His lawyer recalls that Eric is already well known to the courts for various facts. “We know how dangerous he can be. It is not without sense to fear him.”
Against Rudy, 30 months suspended prison sentence is required for attempted murder. “It was a switchblade knife with a springing blade. You have to press a button to make the blade come out”recalls the Namur public prosecutor’s office, which insists on the area of the body targeted to support the attempted murder.
For the assault and battery against Carlo: 16 months suspended prison sentence, retaining the excuse of provocation.
Finally, Eric, prosecuted for harassing his two neighbors, risks 12 months in prison.
