MMA – Islam Makhachev’s manager announces the return of his protégé against the number one contender.

Islam Makhachev is the king of all categories in the UFC. Former lightweight champion, the Russian gave up his title to move up to welterweight. In his new division, the Dagestani immediately performed for the belt. Facing Jack Della Maddalenaat the protégé Khabib Nurmagomedov completely dominated the match. Too strong for the Australian, the native of Makhachkala won by unanimous decision.

After his victory, Islam Makhachev had asked to face Kamaru Usman. However, the meeting with the Nigerian seems to have fallen through. Michael Morales et Ian Garryon the other hand, are the two highest ranked athletes in welterweight and could soon face the champion. Ali Abdelazizle manager d’Islam Makhachev, a même annoncé :

« Islam has a fight scheduled for this summer against number 1 contender, it’s already settled, and the UFC will announce it very soon. »

If we stick exclusively to the UFC rankings, the number one contender is Jack Della Maddalena. However, Islam Makhachev has just defeated him. So, the Russian should face one of the two men behind the Australian in the rankings: Ian Garry or Michael Morales.
