On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the CACEM (Community of Agglomeration of Central Martinique) inaugurated its new term. Following the municipal elections, the 56 community councillors came together to officially start the 2026-2032 period.

Election without surprises

Didier Laguerre was elected last Saturday as the president of the intermunicipality, which includes the towns of Fort-de-France, Le Lamentin, Schoelcher, and Saint-Joseph.

This choice indeed respects the principle of rotating presidency historically established among the member towns. Didier Laguerre succeeds Luc-Louison Clément. The fifty-year-old expressed himself after his election:

“The CACEM is one of the beating hearts of Martinique. I hope this term will allow us to meet the challenges of ecological transition, economic support, support for our youth, as well as mobility and transportation, which greatly disrupt the lives of residents.”
