Hall of Fame basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale shared some concerning news about his health, revealing that recent tests showed “abnormalities.”
Despite feeling physically great and mentally sharp, Vitale received news from his doctors that further testing is needed after abnormalities were found in his latest scans.
Vitale, 86, who was declared cancer-free last year, is preparing for additional tests and a biopsy to determine the next steps in his health journey.
The legendary broadcaster has faced multiple battles with cancer in the past, including melanoma, lymphoma, vocal cord cancer, and lymph node cancer.
In 2023, Vitale underwent a procedure for the removal of vocal cord tissue to investigate potential cancerous cells, while also being treated for non-cancerous dysplasia that affected his voice.
Over the years, Vitale has worked tirelessly in the world of basketball, both on the court and in the broadcast booth. His dedication to the sport earned him a place in the College Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
