Comings and goings: Public Media Co. hires COO, GBH names documentary leader …

Caroline Ross was appointed as the COO of Public Media Co.

Ross previously served as the COO and chief of staff for the National Trust for Local News. She has also held positions as the director of innovation and impact at the University of Pennsylvania, senior director of Sorenson Impact, and a research and policy analyst at the Urban Institute.

“As PMC celebrates 25 years of supporting nonprofit and independent media organizations nationwide, I am thankful to be joining this work at such a crucial moment for the industry,” Ross shared on LinkedIn. “I was attracted to the opportunity to support public media during a time of significant change and potential. However, what truly sealed the deal was the people – deeply dedicated to the vital role public-serving media plays in civic life. I am excited to collaborate with this remarkable team to help shape the future.”

GBH in Boston introduced new hires.

Marjon Javadi was appointed as the managing director of the station’s Documentary Unit. She will collaborate on GBH series productions, including Frontline, American Experience, and Nova. Javadi will concentrate on strategy and business partnerships for Frontline Features, which develops feature-length and short documentaries for global multiplatform distribution.

Nicki DeMarco joined Frontline as a senior producer of digital and audience. Previously, she worked at the Washington Post in various video production roles.

Public Media Management welcomed Christian Siebeneck as the VP of technology and innovation.

Siebeneck’s role will involve supporting the company’s cloud and joint master control services for public television. Before joining Public Media Management, he served as the Chief Technology Officer for TPT in St. Paul and was also involved in various roles within public media and technology committees.

Tamra Swiderski was hired as the senior director of finance for Nashville PBS. She brings experience from her previous role at the National Educational Telecommunications Association.

Sam Stockbridge took on the role of an elections and investigative reporter for Central Florida Public Media in Orlando. Stockbridge has experience as a freelance reporter and previously worked for the Ketchikan Daily News.

Dylan Lysen is leaving his position at the Kansas News Service to join the government accountability team at the Kansas City Star.

Nick Offerman, known for his acting roles, will host a poetry segment called “A Wonder Is What It Is” for WNYC in New York. The segment will air during the station’s daily talk show, All of It. Offerman will read poems by Wendell Berry in four installments released on Fridays.
