On April 5, the Foreign Trade University (FTU) held a six-month early graduation ceremony for 1,265 full-time undergraduate students at its main campus in Hanoi and its campus in Quang Ninh.

Among the graduating students, approximately 30% obtained excellent academic results. Many brilliant students have won prestigious prizes in Mathematics Olympiads, General Informatics Olympiads and Science and Technology Competitions, among others.

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Pham Thu Huong, rector of the University of Foreign Trade, said that from the moment they receive their diploma, students officially become new graduates, carriers aspirations, responsibilities and a mission: to contribute to the community and the country.

On this special day, Ms. Huong wanted the new graduates to do something that might make many people uncomfortable, but would be very meaningful.

In the final moments of their student lives, when they were no longer “kids” in the eyes of their families, she asked the graduating students to face the auditorium – where their parents and loved ones were watching – to place their hands on their chests and think about the sacrifices and love they had received throughout their journey to adulthood.

Immediately afterwards, thousands of new graduates bowed simultaneously in gratitude, creating a moving moment during the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Huong said maturity comes when everyone gradually understands the worries and sacrifices of their parents and loved ones. Sharing love is not only a manifestation of maturity, but also the foundation of lasting success.

She advised the young graduates to boldly pursue their dreams and dedicate themselves to the ideals they have chosen, but also to recognize that this journey is made up of many small steps, requiring perseverance at each step.

On this journey, everyone must demonstrate humility and tolerance, understanding that the world is larger than they think, while respecting the unique values of others – elements that allow us to go further and with more stability.

“She hopes that each of us will be dynamic enough to pursue our dreams, but also calm enough to continue to evolve,” said Ms. Huong.
