Five candidates, who are fundamentally different, are embarking on an almost impossible battle. In the fifth largest city of France, which is shifting towards the far right, Mireille Damiano and her citizen collective representing the far left do not lose hope. In Le Mans, the socialist capital of Sarthe, Olivier Sasso hopes to restore a place for the right in the municipal council. In Hénin-Beaumont, a historical stronghold of the far right, socialist Inès Taourit is fighting tooth and nail. In Pau, a moderate land of former Prime Minister François Bayrou, National Rally candidate Margaux Taillefer aims to make a name for herself. In Strasbourg, among the eleven candidates vying for the city, Fahad Raja Muhammad enters the battle without money, without a network, and with a party that he has just founded. They all know that victory is, at best, improbable, but they wholeheartedly commit to the campaign. Amid sincere convictions, moments of doubt, and sometimes comical situations, the film follows their daily lives up close. It is a sensitive and often funny portrayal of these candidates who have “everything to lose” and yet, despite everything, continue to breathe life into democracy.
