An Oracle employee who was let go during the company’s recent layoffs shared a moment of surprise and acceptance in a post on LinkedIn.
“Yikes I thought to myself, being one of the many many folks impacted by recent layoffs at Oracle. But it happens, and I will enjoy sleeping in this morning lolol I will enjoy the challenge of ambiguity, the uncomfortable-ness of saying ‘I’m looking for a job’, but mostly (I think) the freedom of a rare opportunity to slow down and reflect on what I’m wanting to do next,” she wrote.

The employee is among thousands affected after Oracle carried out a large-scale workforce reduction. Nearly 12,000 employees in India and close to 30,000 globally have been impacted as part of the company’s restructuring efforts.
Oracle said the move followed structural adjustments aimed at operational consolidation, with several roles identified as no longer essential across departments.
“It’s a strange feeling, but I’m incredibly proud of what I was able to build over the past 4 years, from intern to full-time, and grateful for the experience, mentors, and teammates along the way,” another laid off employee wrote on LinkedIn.
Compensation and exit support
For employees in India, Oracle has outlined a compensation package that includes 15 days’ wages for every completed year of service, along with one month’s notice pay. The company has also committed to encashment of unused leave and gratuity for eligible employees.
In addition, a payout equivalent to two months’ salary has been offered to cushion the financial impact. However, some employees have raised concerns over unpaid wages up to their final working date.
