UPDATE – March 30, 2026: The section of Highway 99 north of Squamish, B.C., has re-opened in both directions, according to DriveBC.

A stretch of Highway 99 north of Squamish remains closed in both directions after a crash near Mount Garibaldi that sent three people to hospital, including one in serious condition.

According to DriveBC, the closure is in place between Alice Lake Road and Daisy Lake Road.

It says the investigation at the scene has been completed and tow crews are removing damaged vehicles, with cleanup expected to follow.

DriveBC says traffic may reopen in stages, but warns northbound lanes could remain closed longer due to debris on the roadway.

In a social media post, Squamish Fire Rescue said crews are currently trying to clear the scene and reopen the highway with air support also involved.

DriveBC says there’s no estimated time of opening at the moment and it warns travellers to expect significant delays between Squamish and Whistler as traffic builds.

B.C. Emergency Health Services says it received a call about the crash at around 3:30 pm and dispatched two ground and one air ambulance to the scene.

BCEHS says paramedics treated three patients on the ground and transported them to hospital, one in serious condition and two in stable condition.

Some motorists are also posting online about long lines of vehicles backed up along the route.
