The American president Donald Trump declared on Sunday that the United States has already begun taking measures to control the Strait of Hormuz in the context of the war against Iran.

When asked in an interview with the Israeli Channel 14 about Washington’s ability to control this strategic maritime route, he replied, “Yes, of course, it’s already happening.”

Trump also highlighted what he described as close coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Iran. “The coordination is very tight. We have good relations. They couldn’t be better,” he said.

He also believes that Iran truly wants to reach an agreement. “I think they really want it. Anyone would want an agreement if we were getting decimated, right?” he said.

The United States and Israel have been conducting airstrikes against Iran since February 28, resulting in over 1,340 deaths so far, including the former supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting American military installations, causing casualties and infrastructure damage, while disrupting global markets and aviation.
