In the pre-dawn hours of March 23, 2015, Aaron Quinn and his girlfriend Denise Huskins were asleep in his Vallejo, California, home, unaware they were being watched. Denise Huskins Quinn recalls being awoken by a strange man in a wet suit, claiming it was a robbery. Known as “The Voice,” he tied them up, made them drink a sedative, and forced Aaron to complete tasks for Denise’s release.
Their ordeal, including a bank visit for ransom, was closely monitored, and Denise was eventually taken to another location, blindfolded, and raped. After being released, Denise was found walking down a familiar street and was rescued by police after a neighbor called. Their horrific experience was labeled a hoax by the Vallejo Police Department.
The suspect, Matthew Muller, was caught after a home invasion in Dublin. He was a Harvard-educated lawyer and former Marine with a history of similar crimes. Further investigations linked Muller to a series of attacks, including the kidnapping of Denise and attack on another family.
Despite Muller’s claims of acting alone, Denise and Aaron remain doubtful and believe there were other people involved. Muller’s confessions of various crimes and the discovery of DNA evidence provided closure for some victims but raised questions of possible accomplices.
Denise and Aaron’s determination to seek justice and share their story led to Muller’s convictions and life sentences. Their advocacy for better treatment of victims and proper police procedures continues. They aim to use their experience to help others and ensure that victims are believed and supported in their quest for justice.
