Unlike what they experienced in 2022, when they lost to Tours (3-0), timid and disrupted by the early injury of their Seychellois central Rodney Ah-Kong, Nice Volley-Ball did not make it past their second Coupe de France final, this Saturday night at Adidas Arenas in Paris. The Azuréen club was defeated (3-1, 30-28, 25-23, 24-26, 26-24), but they held their own against their opponent, Paris Volley.

Facing the club of former Cannes libero Jérémie Mouiel, Brice Donat’s players took control in each of the four sets (13-18 in the first, 19-21 in the second, 5-11 in the third act, and 4-8 in the final act), but they only managed to snatch one set. This scenario will leave them with regrets.

The Parisians, led by Brazilian coach Mauricio Paes, converted their second match point with an ace from their outside hitter Molotkov.

“We enjoyed ourselves because the atmosphere was incredible, but it came down to nothing, on details. They came back every time when we were ahead. It’s a shame, we will have to learn,” commented Colin Castelnau, the Niçois receiver/attacker on the broadcaster BeIN Sports.

On the women’s side, the title went to Mulhouse for the third time, as they defeated Vandoeuvre/Nancy (3-1) in a clash between the top two teams from the regular season of the championship.
