Italy: a rationalist villa from the 1930s with decor punctuated by soft colors – MilK Decoration

A few dozen kilometers from Genoa, the town of Sestri Levante is one of the Bay of Silence. It is here, at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Ligurian Sea, that the Villa Domus. Designed in 1934 by the Italian architect Carlo Luigi Danieri then built between 1938 and 1940, the house is a fine example of the rationalist architectural movement. Generous, the volumes of the house are above all functional, and everything here has been designed in dialogue with the surrounding nature. The main room, a double-height living room, offers a breathtaking view of the sea thanks to large panoramic windows. A large glass block wall hides a patio at the back, while throughout the house we find noble materials: large slabs of black marble on the floor, parchment on the doors, yellow Siena marble on the walls…

A setting that particularly inspired Mango Home, who decided to settle down there for a few hours. The opportunity to showcase the latest collections from the Spanish label, which this season is focusing on a palette of soft and pastel colors. Home textiles – bed or bath linen – indoor wardrobe – silk set, fine knit cardigan, satin slippers – and blown glassware feature buttery yellow, lilac or mint green shades, and more or less pronounced stripes. Delicately summery.
