In slang, the term refers to the idea of a small rural town, a place isolated from the rest of the world. In this setting of solitary strangeness, the Californian muse, famous for her trashy images and her “new Hollywood” aesthetic, becomes the heroine of scenes of daily life. Alone or surrounded by children, she poses in front of the Super 8 camera, natural and raw, in a vintage t-shirt or in underwear and cowboy boots along a desert path.
