Because creating a seasonal interior doesn’t just involve the choice of colors or the style of furniture, let’s zoom in on the materials that will give a spring-like feel to our cocoons this year.

If winter is officially moving away little by little, the weather, like the decoration, always seems to want to keep us in a cozy and enveloping environment. To remedy this, we are taking action. It’s time to bring spring materials and colors into our homes. But it is clear that these are increasingly absent in recent decorative collections. Dark wood, raw metal and veined marble always seem to want to accompany us in this change of season which proves more difficult than usual. So we take matters into our own hands by focusing on a play on materiality that will bring softness into the home.

Rattan

Far from its outdated image which stuck to it for a while, rattan has been able to reinvent itself over the years. Adopting it now means focusing on a retro aesthetic suitable for travel. If we love it on outdoor furniture, rattan, like other natural fibers, also makes us fall in love when it becomes a wall light. To be right on trend of the moment, it is in the decorative cut version on foot that it capsizes us.

Linen

As soon as the nice weather arrives, we swap our heavy textiles for lighter variations. Among them, linen is unbeatable. Its natural look and soft feel make it the perfect companion for interiors that want to go into spring mode. Bed sets, sofas, curtains or napkins are used delicately.

Cotton

Just like linen, cotton breathes fresh air into our den. We want it light, clear, pastel or adorned with decorative spring prints. Easy to live with and universal, it will look great on cushions or a pretty tablecloth. For a more textured effect, we opt for cotton gauze. Ideal on a duvet cover or bath towels.

The blond wood

More airy and light than dark wood, light woods are perfect for spring. They breathe freshness into a decor without darkening it. They can therefore easily be used on imposing pieces such as a Scandinavian-style display case, a kitchen table or as a stool in the living room. A must-have to lean on with your eyes closed.

Ceramics

If, like wood, ceramic is available in our homes all year round, it also knows how to adapt to the seasons. We will favor earthy notes and a rough finish for our flower pots to remind us of nature. We will keep the shine of tiles or zellige for our coffee tables, both in the living room and on the terrace. For more vitality, we will turn to a frank and lively palette such as a deep green, terracotta or an intense yellow.

Transparency

More than a matter of material, transparency is one of the options not to be neglected in spring. Neither completely present nor entirely absent, translucent furniture gives a feeling of lightness that is greatly appreciated when the sunny days arrive. Pedestal tables, tables, lamp bases and even tableware will match any atmosphere.
