The Château de Cheverny welcomes more than 450,000 visitors each year after being one of the first private residences to open its doors to the public in 1922. The castle is open 365 days a year. The visit is free or guided on request for groups. There are many possibilities for organizing “event” visits: visitors can land by helicopter on the castle lawns, park in front of the castle with their vehicles during a tourist rally, or even enjoy a visit outside opening hours.
Still inhabited, it is the best furnished castle in the Loire Valley. You can also admire six magnificent gardens: The flower garden, The apprentice garden, The garden of love, The tulip garden in April, The sweet garden, The labyrinth. Cheverny notably served as a model for Hergé to design Moulinsart, the famous comic book castle. This is why visitors can enter the Tintin Museum to visit the Moulinsart pieces in three dimensions. It is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility.
In 2023, between the pond and the lawns near the castle, 500,000 bulbs and no longer 250,000 have been planted in two ribbons 12 meters wide and 250 meters long for the oldest and 12 meters wide and 220 meters long for the new one. The two ribbons are composed of a gradient of colors.
