The family of the late Fodé Kanté expressed, this Saturday March 28, 2026, its gratitude to the President of the Republic, Mamadi Doumbouya, after the posthumous appointment of his father to the rank of Commander of the Order of National Merit. This distinction, made public in the television news on Saturday March 28, 2026, comes one year to the day after his reminder to God, according to the declaration sent by the Kanté family.
The statement was read by Aboubacar Sidiki Kante, one of the deceased’s sons, also a lawyer, on behalf of the entire family.
In this message the family welcomed what it considers to be an official recognition of a life devoted to work and service to the Nation: “It is with deep emotion that I speak today”, declared the family spokesperson, before recalling that the decoration “comes one year to the day after his reminder to God.”
The Kanté family believes that this elevation honors the memory of the deceased and consecrates the values he embodied throughout his life. “Through my voice, the KANTE family would like to express its infinite gratitude to your Excellency for this elevation which honors the memory of our father,” we can read in the declaration. The text adds that the presidential gesture “consecrates not only a man, but also values: work, loyalty and service to the Nation”.
The distinction is also seen as a tribute paid to the deceased’s entourage, in particular his family, his neighborhood and his locality of Tombolia, where he was, according to those close to him, deeply involved. “This distinction also honors his judicial family, his neighborhood and his locality Tombolia where he was deeply involved and where he now rests in peace,” underlines the declaration.
For the family, the absence of Fodé Kanté does not mean the end of his mark. “His absence remains, but his name and his actions continue to resonate in the memory of the Republic of Guinea,” affirms the text, which concludes on a note of gratitude and conviction: “Exceptional men never disappear: they live through the values they transmit.
