“We are despised”: on RTL, the anger of a BAC 75N police officer who intervened at the Bataclan, excluded from the decoration discounts promised by Emmanuel Macron

Around twenty of them entered the Bataclan on the evening of November 13, 2015. The BAC75N police officers are asking for more recognition. Come to rescue the victims of the attack even though the terrorists were still present in the auditorium.

They believe they have never benefited from recognition commensurate with their heroism more than 10 years ago now. Now retired, Alain Giraud is disappointed not to have received the Legion of Honor promised by Emmanuel Macron. Speaking to RTL, he explains that he did not receive it because it did not meet the criteria. “It was written in black and white,” he explains. “I asked what the criteria were. I’m still waiting for them.”

“For the medal of the city of Paris, we were waiting for the Ministry of the Interior to give its approval for the names that I gave for this decoration. We would like to know why. We still stayed five hours on site and including an hour and a half in the Bataclan,” he says. “The terrorists were upstairs, about fifteen meters from us, they could have waited for us and shot us with Kalashnikovs,” he adds. “When you have actors and singers who have this decoration, it makes me a little angry. We are despised. There is a lot of anger,” confides Alain Giraud.

The entourage of the Minister of the Interior explains to RTL that “the Minister of the Interior has always considered that the police officers who intervened on the evening of the Bataclan deserved to be rewarded”. “To the extent that it is obvious that other speakers deserve to see their action during this acclaimed evening, the head of state had at the same time asked the Minister of the Interior to make his directors general work to integrate these speakers into the alongside other agents during future promotions in national orders. This is the meaning of the work currently being carried out”, we specify.
