In parallel with the French Asphalt Rally Championship, the French Mountain Championship will also kick off next week. The Bagnols-Sabran Hill Climb will be the first of twelve events organized this season, held between April and September. Favorites for this new season will be present, such as the reigning French Mountain Production Champion Anthony Dubois. He will once again compete this year with his Alpine A110 Evo inspired by the car used by Raphaël Astier at Pikes Peak in 2023, prepared in close collaboration with Signatech. While the car hasn’t changed much for this new season, now that it’s proven and led its driver to the title, its livery now features more French colors in honor of Anthony Dubois’ 2025 victory.

In the CFM Production category, Anthony Dubois will have to work hard

The season looks set to be extremely competitive in hill climb racing this year. In the closed cars category, Dubois will have to contend with Jean-François Ganevat (Renault RS01), Yannick Poinsignon (BMW M3 E92), and Olivier Berreur (Renault RS01), a newcomer to the category. Last year, the trio of Dubois-Ganevat-Poinsignon dominated the podiums and victories in the Production class, providing a high-flying spectacle. The Sport category will also have its contenders, with the Pernot family finally reunited, Belgian driver Corentin Starck, and Maxime Dojat, all now driving Nova Proto and Norma cars. The historic class is also on the rise, expecting record attendance in the 2026 French Mountain Championship. With new cars eligible via the K period, new competitors have been drawn to this new version, adding more excitement to the competition within the competition.
