Last year the association offered 27 shows bringing together a total of 1,600 spectators.
Saturday March 28 in the morning, the general assembly of the Montazeloise association took place, in the presence of the 1st magistrate, Christophe Cuxac. In the introduction, the president Claude Caux recalled the animation that the association brought throughout the year within the village. Picking up on this theme, the mayor welcomed the investment of volunteers in promoting culture and hat making within the region.
The moral and financial reports were voted unanimously. The association’s activities have made it possible to promote the hat-making know-how, the memorial aspect of the site and its development as well as its discovery. Cultural events and guided tours of the factory constitute the association’s activity. In terms of entertainment, except for exhibitions that are difficult to manage, the detail of the activity displays the dynamism of the volunteers and the diversity of the 27 shows which brought together 1,600 enthusiastic spectators from the production site (only 4 took place at the municipal center, the others within the Chapellerie): 14 were musical, 2 vocal groups, 2 theater pieces, 5 stories and 1 conference. The partnership with Montazels and the communities (Couiza, Espéraza, the community of communes of Limouxin, the Regional Natural Park and the Sabatier high school) makes it possible to bring the site to life as a place of production, spectacle and memory on La Retirada, since the building had served as an internment center for women and children Spanish.
Projects still popular
In terms of projects, the association is continuing its monthly, summer and group visits (school or association), but has also revealed the rhythm of its meetings and commissions as well as its calendar of events which is already very extensive. Four members having resigned from the board of directors, the assembly elected Michelle Debord, Francine Fallet, Gérard Lemmens and Denis Moulins.
Next show, the Saturday April 11 At 6 p.m. at the hat shop with Edward Bachmann and Bourbon Stret “blues, folk, US roots”.
