This week’s sale is very rich in toys, comics and their derivatives. On the toys side, but are there even more, there are display cases filled with small automobiles, of various brands, presented with remarkable care by the salesroom teams. We must once again salute the immense work of these young people who stage each of the sessions. Ten or eleven thousand batches to manage every six weeks is incredible. For once, these toys and comics have taken the place usually reserved for porcelain from China and Japan, almost absent this time. The presence of silverware is also low and this becomes recurrent, due to the value of the metal, by weight.

James Ensor

There are only 500 lots in this segment, silver metal included. What is not purchased by individuals will be melted in 80% of cases, let’s not forget that. It’s tragic. There are almost 1,000 lots of European ceramics, including many porcelain and earthenware services. The same goes for glassware and crystals which will be sold until March 31 in the early evening.

For the wines, there are 50 lots to die for. As for drawings and graphic works, you should watch out for a black stone by James Ensor, The Card Playersa composition by Firmin Baes showing a Young Shepherdess and one Faun Head by Roger Somville. We still find there Moses closing the waters of the Red Sea on the armies of Pharaoh, attribué à l’Anversois Otto Venius, à prendre à 1 500 €.

Let’s not forget an interesting half-length portrait of a lady by Marcel Delmotte, valued for a crust of bread. And we will end with a no less interesting painting by Jean-Pierre Félix (born in 1938). It is about The Man with the Rosepainted on a 50 x 60 cm panel. The lot is expected to fetch between €4,000 and €6,000.
