It’s time for nostalgia: with the advance in the age of
générations 80 et 90, the toy market is booming. It is more precisely the resale market and toys which have today become real
collectibles who sometimes rake in impressive sums. Yesterday’s children, today’s collectors, are sometimes ready to pay the price for a little nostalgia.

Reason why objects like
Pokémon cards, Polly Pocket, Furby
or small objects that could be found in Kinder Surprise at Easter are very sought after today. This toy from the 1990s, much less known, could well suffer the same fate if it had not been forgotten by an entire generation. A somewhat bizarre toy, but one that had the gift of amusing children.

This bizarre toy left its mark on an entire generation

There is no Easter Monday for children without the traditional egg hunt. Chocolate eggs that children often like to eat during the day after a well-conducted expedition. In the 1990s however, it was another type of egg that found strange success, and it is linked to the range Magic Growing Alien Egg.

A toy that was found everywhere until the 2000s, both in toy stores, bazaars and in gadget sections. A toy which was shaped like a transparent plastic egg and which contained an alien creature in a
viscous, stretchy and sometimes bouncy material. Very popular with children, it is today the subject of many nostalgic adult anecdotes.

An item that could soon be worth a small fortune

Thanks to rumors circulating among children at the time (aliens could “make babies”, they grew in water, they reacted to cold or heat), these toys were a huge success in playgrounds.

Today on Reddit, from numerous testimonies
show that these toys have left their mark on an entire generation. Many children of the time still remember this material that was impossible to remove from hair or clothes, or even this toy which made parents laugh as much as it exasperated their parents. And if it is not yet one of those cult objects that fetch a small fortune, nothing says that this will not be the case in a few years.
