The Rock finds himself alongside the American Catherine Laga’aia, who plays the young adventurer. The feature film is released in theaters on July 8.
Disney has just revealed the second teaser for the film Vaiana directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Unsurprisingly, after lending his voice to the demigod Maui in the two cartoons, Dwayne Johnson will physically slip into the role of the character by sporting long, curly brown hair. “He was involved in a fundamental way, as a producer and of course in front of the cameraâ€explains Thomas Kail for Allociné.
The first images revealed in November allowed us to discover Catherine Laga’aia, in the role of the heroine, as well as the world of the film. “The day she walked into the room in New York for her final audition, I knew she could stand up to Dwayne Johnson. And that’s not nothing! Their duo works wonderfully.”enthuses the director who signs his first great Disney adventure. Alongside the two heroes will be John Tui in the role of Chief Tui, father of Moana, Frankie Adams who plays the mother and Rena Owen lending her features for the wise grandmother Tala.

The feature film co-signed by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller promises to be faithful to the cartoon. The young Polynesian, accompanied by the demigod Maui, begins a quest to allow her people to regain their prosperity, recounts the synopsis. For Thomas Kail, the objective was to rely on the “existing forces” from the original story “while not being afraid to revisit a scene or to offer an interpretation that seems rightexplains the director. I also wondered how to try to make the scenario as realistic as possible, when a lot of elements will be created later in post-production.”
