Now considered “vintage”, some toys are selling for several thousand euros. Surprisingly, they are still found lingering in our attics!

Just like fashion, toys follow a cycle and become trendy every twenty or twenty-five years. This phenomenon was observed with toys like Polly Pocket figurines and early Disney VHS movies, which were sold for a fortune last year.

In recent months, a new toy that sold around 40 million copies when it was released in 1998 has become highly sought after. Collectors or adults who didn’t get rid of it can now sell it for thousands of euros. This robotic toy, a mix between an owl, a cat, and a rodent, is the Furby, sparking a lot of interest.

The interactive plush, initially priced at $35 during its first three years on the market, has been revitalized by Hasbro with a new edition in 2017. However, it’s the older models that truly interest toy enthusiasts.

Currently, these old toys are selling for an average of 1,000 euros on specialized websites like eBay. Original models, still in their packaging, can reach up to 3,850 euros! Even rarer, some prototype samples that were never mass-produced also fetch over 3,000 euros. A real treasure.

But don’t worry if you only have a 2012 edition model. The rarest colors, like white, sell for between 500 and 1200 euros. Not a negligible amount!

And that’s not all! According to the British newspaper The Daily Mirror, if you own the rarest Furby, the Rainbow Furby, of which only three were ever produced in the world, you could sell it for a lot more money.

Among other sought-after objects from the 90s, the very first print of the first Harry Potter book is highly coveted. With its original cover and typos, this book could fetch between 30,000 and 50,000 dollars, just like that!
