Presented for the first time more than three years ago, the FPS which takes up the aesthetic of old Disney from the 1930s is finally getting ready to be released. Mouse PI For Hire will be available on April 16, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2.
Presented for the very first time in 2023, Mouse PI For Hire immediately attracted attention thanks to its aesthetic seeming to come straight out of a cartoon from the 1930s, a style which had already worked perfectly in the game Cuphead. After a slight postponement, the game developed by the independent Polish studio Fumi Games will be released on April 16, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2.
Beyond its style, Mouse PI For Hire is inspired by film noir to offer a classic plot of the genre and the atmosphere that goes with it. You will therefore play a former war hero converted into a private detective, Jack Pepper, voiced by Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Uncharted). While you will first be involved in a simple investigation into a mysterious disappearance, you will quickly discover a vast political conspiracy and its share of murders, blackmail and corruption of all kinds.
All the action will take place in Mouseburg, a town in which the police, corrupt to the core, participate in all local crimes, especially against the poorest populations. Each level will be an opportunity to discover a new district of the city, which will therefore offer varied settings, from foggy docks to sewers and old movie studios.

Concerning the gameplay, Mouse PI For Hire presents itself as a “boomer-shooter”, that is to say a linear FPS with frantic action, like the Doom games. In addition to his fists and his revolver, Jack Pepper benefits from a large arsenal of crazy weapons to discover throughout the game, such as the “Devarnisher” which melts the ink of enemies or Popeye-style spinach cans to become invincible, and a range of movements and dodges to avoid dangers.
Between each level, you will return to your office to take stock of the progress of the investigation by analyzing the different clues recovered in the levels. As you progress in the adventure, you will discover new techniques, which will allow you to access places previously inaccessible in the first levels. You will therefore have to return there to find new clues essential to advance the investigation, which adds a small dose of Metroidvania to the progression.

In addition to traditional combat, the open levels will require exploring, and you will regularly have to solve puzzles to continue progressing. Boss fights in several phases will also be on the menu of this adventure which will be punctuated by a retro-jazz soundtrack composed by Patryk Scelina.
Mouse P.I For Hire sera disponible le 16 avril 2026 sur PC, PS5, Xbox Series et Nintendo Switch 2.
