Quai 10 in Charleroi is a cinema that carefully selects its eclectic programming, a brewery that runs… and a “video game” space in the basement that offers the opportunity to explore the game as a true cultural object.
Except that, the space present for 10 years and whose model Houdeng-Goegnies copied has just lost a significant subsidy. “Despite internal efforts already made to rationalize expenses, Quai10 is forced to adapt the opening hours of the Video Game Area. says Sébastien Capette, communications manager. Free access for the approximately 9,000 people who pass there each year, without this subsidy, is not sustainable.
The video game area will therefore revise its hours downwards: on weekends and public holidays, it will now be closed. Public hours (Wednesday afternoon, late Friday afternoon and last weekend of the month reserved for families) are maintained. “This decision, difficult but necessary, aims to guarantee the continuation of the essential missions of the Space: school activities, workshops, internships, family weekends, recurring events and cultural collaborations. said Quai10 again, stressing that the impact of government measures obliges it to do so.
The measure will apply from May 11.
