Morocco is taking a new step in the development of its gaming industry. On the sidelines of Gitex Africa Morocco 2026, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and Huawei Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at structuring a competitive ecosystem and supporting the rise of local talent.
Initialed by Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and the general director of Huawei Morocco, David Li, this convention is part of a dynamic of public-private cooperation, with the Morocco Gaming Expo 2026 in its sights, scheduled for May in Rabat. The ambition is clear: to make gaming a lever for growth at the crossroads of technology, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Concretely, the partnership provides support for training and support for Moroccan talents, as well as strengthening local capacities. It also includes support for the participation of Moroccan teams in international initiatives supported by Huawei, in order to promote their exposure and their development of skills.
“The gaming industry is establishing itself today as a strategic lever,” underlines David Li, who highlights the common desire to “enable Moroccan talents to train, innovate and project themselves internationally.”
With this in mind, Huawei will contribute to equipping the workshop spaces at Morocco Gaming Expo 2026, in order to offer developers optimal conditions for learning and experimentation. The objective is to provide them with cutting-edge technological tools, capable of stimulating innovation and creation.
The agreement also provides for the support of five Moroccan developers selected by the ministry, in an approach to promote local excellence. An initiative which aims to bring about a new generation of creators, capable of carrying out the ambitions of the Kingdom in the creative industries.
Beyond gaming, this partnership illustrates the desire of both parties to strengthen the national digital ecosystem. For Huawei, it is also about consolidating its commitment to the development of digital skills and digital inclusion, in a context where digital is establishing itself as a key factor of competitiveness.
