The most recent Intel Nova Lake and AMD Zen 6 leaks have pushed the official release dates of the next-generation Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen CPUs to 2027. When the Intel Nova Lake and AMD Zen 6 CPUs launch, they will bring more cores, higher clock speeds, and an increase in performance. the IPC, which could translate into huge performance gains compared to current generation CPUs.

Leaker HXL (@9550Pro) claims on X that Intel Nova Lake CPUs could beat AMD Zen 6 CPUs in terms of IPC increase from one generation to the next. HXL here refers to the increased IPC of P Coyote Cove processors.

On the other hand, HXL reports that AMD Zen 6 chips will have higher clock speeds than Intel Nova Lake CPUs. Interestingly, the roles seem to be reversed here, as it was Intel who, a generation ago, with the 14th generation processors, were offering insane clock speeds like 6 GHz.

Intel Nova Lake could restore Intel’s leadership position

Intel’s Nova Lake Core Ultra 400 desktop processors have a real chance of beating AMD in all categories thanks to up to 52 cores, higher frequencies, and better IPC than Zen 6. Given that some of Intel’s next-generation chips would be Also featuring a large last-level cache (bLLC), AMD’s gaming advantage with X3D chips could also fade.

In other words, it wouldn’t be surprising if Intel Nova Lake dominates the next generation everywhere, whether it’s single-core workloads, like gaming, or heavily threaded applications. Silicon Fly, for example, notes on
