For its entry into the competition in this LEC Spring Split 2026, G2 Esports dictated its law against Team Heretics with a clear victory with a score of 2 to 0. The samurai team confirms its excellent dynamics at the start of the season and imposes itself without trembling against an opponent quickly overtaken by the events.
A start to the season perfectly mastered by G2 Esports
The 2026 LEC Spring Split is in full swing and the second week of competition promises important clashes for the regular season standings. G2 Esports played its very first match in the segment today after enjoying a week off to compensate for its participation in the First Stand international tournament. Facing them stood Team Heretics who had a balanced record of one victory for one defeat. If this rest period left any doubt about their competitive pace, Caps’ teammates immediately found their bearings to take control of the match.
First round showing wear and tear
G2 began Bo3 by refusing chaos in favor of absolute control of the map. The draft phase saw Serin lock Mel in midlane and Tracyn secure Ambessa at the top. In direct response BrokenBlade selected its famous Shen. The pace of the early game was deliberately slow. G2 built their lead methodically without forcing unnecessary skirmishes. BrokenBlade’s Shen completely neutralized the opposing Ambessa on the sidelanes and allowed his team to dominate the macro. The turning point occurred around the 20th minute with a decisive fight won by G2 which immediately opened access to the first Baron Nashor of the game.
Once the buff was recovered the team stifled Team Heretics, like this 1v3 won by BrokenBlade on the botlane, reducing vision and accumulating a significant gold advantage. The match ended in the 38th minute with a score of 10 kills to 6 in favor of G2. The statistics validate this territorial domination with a final lead of almost 10k golds and eleven turrets destroyed compared to only three for Team Heretics. BrokenBlade shone with a KDA of 4/1/4 and 350 CS while being omnipresent thanks to his ults. For his part, Hans Sama on Ashe calmly accumulated 418 CS to ensure end-of-game damage. Despite the defeat, Serin recorded the best DPM of the match with an average of 834 damage per minute, confirming his constant offensive impact throughout the match.
Clinical acceleration to close Bo3
Trailing, the Heretics tried to react with a more aggressive composition around a K’Sante for Tracyn and a Lee Sin for Sheo. G2 responded firmly and BrokenBlade released a signature Poppy to counter the opposing topplane. The game was much more rhythmic from the first minutes. SkewMond was very proactive on his Olaf to respond to the offensives of the opposing jungler while Caps applied enormous pressure on Serin’s Viktor with his Akali. In the botlane Labrov excelled with Bard using his portals to perfection to dictate engagements. After a quarter of an hour of play, Team Heretics tried to force actions to make up for the deficit but ran into a wall.
The topside duo of G2 were literally unkillable and absorbed all the pressure to let Caps and Hans Sama dictate the teamfights. Without giving their opponents time to breathe, the G2 players folded the match in just under half an hour with a score of 12 kills to 6. The economic gap reached more than 13k golds at the end of the match. SkewMond finished the game in 4/1/6 and dictated the pace while Labrov posted an impressive 1/4/9 being involved in the vast majority of his team’s eliminations. Hans Sama didn’t die once in the round with his 2/0/7 on Sivir and 336 CS.
This mastered Bo3 allows G2 Esports to ideally launch its regular season. SkewMond confirms his great solidity in the jungle, while Labrov displays a very reassuring level of play in the support position. Elected MVP of the meeting, BrokenBlade delivered a very convincing performance on the top plane, relying on anti-meta choices which completely muzzled his direct opponents. The dynamic is very different for Team Heretics which has never succeeded in developing its game plan. This second consecutive poor performance darkens the record of the Spanish structure and brings the team down to a score of one victory for two defeats. The competition moves forward very quickly for the rest of the LEC Spring Split, since G2 Esports will face Fnatic from April 5 at 7:15 p.m. for a duel that is always highly anticipated, while Team Heretics will try to relaunch against GiantX on April 6 at 5:00 p.m.
