After the success of the Minecraft film and the continued explosion of video games, an entire area of an amusement park entirely dedicated to this iconic universe will see the light of day near London. New attractions, roller coasters and immersive experiences have already been announced.

Minecraft is developing into an amusement park 35 minutes from London, and the project is already colossal
The United Kingdom is clearly accelerating in the theme park race. After the announcement of a land dedicated to Paw Patrol, another world-famous license is preparing to take an unprecedented step: Minecraft will become a life-size experience a few kilometers from London.
And the project already displays XXL ambitions.
An ambitious Minecraft park in Chessington
It’s official: the Minecraft universe will open in 2027 within the Chessington World of Adventures parklocated just 35 minutes from central London. A strategic location which confirms the tourist ambition of the project.
Behind this expansion, we find Merlin Entertainmentsentertainment giant in Europe, which signed a partnership with Mojang at the end of 2024. Result: a massive investment of 50 million pounds sterling (around 57 million euros) to bring to life this cubic universe that has become cult.
On the program:
- the world’s first Minecraft roller coaster,
- immersive zones inspired by the game’s biomes,
- play areas built “in blocks”,
- interactive experiences where visitors can literally “play” in the park,
- without forgetting themed restaurants and shops.
The objective is clear: transform the most famous sandbox universe in the world into an unmissable family destination, capable of attracting both children and die-hard fans.

Le Royaume-Uni, futur eldorado des parcs à thème?
This project does not come out of nowhere. It is part of a much broader strategy of the United Kingdom, which wants to establish itself as a new European benchmark for amusement parks.
Chessington World of Adventures is the perfect example. Historically a zoo opened in 1931, then transformed into an amusement park in the 1980s, it is today in the process of changing. In parallel with Minecraft, the park is already preparing another major zone dedicated to Paw Patrol.
But internal competition is also intensifying. The famous Alton Towers recently announced a collaboration with Bluey, with the world’s first roller coaster inspired by the series.
And above all, an even more gigantic project is looming: a Universal park near Bedford, about 90 kilometers from London. Inspired by the success of Epic Universe in the United States, it could integrate licenses as powerful as Harry Potter, James Bond or Paddington.
Minecraft, the perfect license for parks?
With more than 300 million copies sold and a successful film in 2025, Minecraft is an obvious choice for amusement parks. Its modular universe, its varied biomes and its creative dimension offer an almost infinite playing field.
An essential question remains: will the experience live up to the players’ imagination?
If Merlin succeeds, this park could well definitively reposition London as a major destination for theme park fans.
