It’s so redundant that we almost hesitate to write it: AMD is facing explosive demand for its processors, driven by the need for AI infrastructure. Thus, this pressure on production capacities creates an imbalance which has mechanical repercussions on the general public market. Yes, the factories are running at full capacity, but for professional customers who pay much more than the Sunday PC gamer. To be clear, processors for personal computers are becoming scarcer relative to demand, and prices are following suit.
ASUS takes action with price increases of up to 30%
Added to this pressure is the persistent shortage of DRAM which has hit the entire components market for several months. The prices of RAM have already increased significantly (in fact, we were talking about it recently regarding the fall in processor sales on Amazon) and CPUs are now joining the list of components whose prices are soaring. And again, AMD is not alone in announcing an increase in its prices: Yi-Hsiang Liao, general director of the ASUS Joint Technology Systems division, announced for his part that the Taiwanese manufacturer plans to increase its PC prices by up to 30%. Moreover, this increase takes on a different magnitude, which affects not only components but all finished products (laptop computers, motherboards, graphics cards). We wish good luck to those who wish to have a new configuration today.
