Samsung is currently rolling out a long-awaited update to its connected TVs to natively integrate Google Cast.
If the South Korean giant’s televisions are among the most popular in the world, their in-house interface, Tizen OS, hitherto left a particularly annoying gap. Unlike much of the competition which embraces the Mountain View ecosystem without restraint, Samsung insisted on limiting wireless broadcasting to its own tool, Smart View. Direct consequence: if you didn’t have a Galaxy smartphone in your pocket, casting a YouTube video from your phone to the big screen was often a hack or required the systematic purchase of an additional accessory like a Chromecast.

But this era of technological isolation is coming to an end. While we already knew that the brand new range of televisions planned for 2026 would feature Google Cast right out of the box, Samsung decided to treat its current customers. A major software update begins to appear on models marketed in 2023 and 2024finally breaking the barriers between Tizen and the Android galaxy.

This deployment is currently taking place in the strictest discretion. It was on Reddit that an owner of an OLED S90D screen raised the alarm, a photo of a new startup screen called “ Continuity » in support, following the transition of its television to the new version of One UI for Tizen. Although the manufacturer has not yet confirmed the news, some users even claim to have been taking advantage of this saving function for a few months already.
Concretely, the arrival of this protocol transforms the use of your TV. Any Android smartphone, tablet, ChromeOS machine or simple Google Chrome browser on your laptop can now project images, videos or music directly to the Samsung TV connected to your Wi-Fi network. This is a real relief for multi-brand users, especially since the manufacturer is aligning itself here with an inevitable industry trend: its long-time rival, LG, recently took the same step to establish the Cast as an essential standard.
This software overhaul does not come alone. The patch spotted also includes a redesigned home interface for greater fluidity, as well as the introduction of a function called “ Universal gestures ». The update should be spread over several weeks, or even several months depending on the region. This integration could logically extend to the brand’s Smart Monitors operating under the same operating system. As for the direct integration of Google Photos, recently spotted on the 2026 vintage, the mystery still hovers over its porting to older generations.
