The AirPods Max 2 are now available for purchase and Apple officials took advantage of an interview with TechRadar to talk about the H2 chip.
Surprises with the H2 chip in the future
You should know that the AirPods headphones have already had the right to the H2 chip and the AirPods Max 2 headphones finally have it. This allows for active noise reduction claimed to be up to 1.5 times more effective, an improved Transparency mode and a set of functions like personalized spatial audio and adaptive audio to automatically adjust listening to the environment.
“At Apple, when we design chips, it’s always product-driven. We don’t sell chips on the open market, which gives our team the luxury of knowing exactly what they’re designing for.”explains Tim Millet, vice president of platform architecture at Apple.
He assures that the H2 chip, although it is not entirely new, still has surprises for the future. “H2 is the platform that continues to prove that it still has room for improvement.”said the manager. We can therefore imagine that there will be some new software features in the future with updates to the headset firmware.
Regarding active noise reduction up to 1.5 times more effective, Eric Treski, head of audio product marketing at Apple, clarified that this was not a selectively chosen statistic. “We take this average of 1.5 times across all frequencies. We don’t select certain frequencies or a particular range.”said the manager.
