Attention all headphone enthusiasts: pre-orders for the AirPods Max 2 are now open on the Apple Store and Amazon. The product is priced at $579 with delivery expected to begin on April 1st. Five colors are available, including orange, midnight, starlight, blue, and purple. The product page is also live at Boulanger.

This revision mainly introduces the H2 chip, which brings some new features such as adaptive audio, instant translation, and conversation detection. Camera remote control is also included, as well as support for head gestures to interact with Siri.

Apple also promises improved call quality with voice isolation and reduced wireless audio latency thanks to the arrival of Bluetooth 5.3. Lossless audio is still possible by connecting the cable with a USB-C cable.

The design of the headphones remains the same with its mesh headband that tends to wear over time. The divisive Smart Case is also back, allowing for easy transport and ultra-low power mode. The 20-hour battery life with active noise cancellation remains unchanged.

We would have liked to see Apple address several points: the headphones are still quite heavy (386g) and the battery life seems limited compared to some competitors. The price remains the same, which is disappointing for an accessory that has not evolved in design over six years. We will test it as soon as it is released on WatchGeneration.
