From now on, filling a 2000 liter tank requires an investment of €1.6468 per liter. An increase of 18.8 cents per liter compared to Friday. Concretely, you would now have to spend €3,294 to fill your 2,000 liter tank, compared to €1,745 a little over a month ago. That’s almost an increase of €1,550.
Fuel prices: Arizona will intervene on home-work travel, but without the “reverse ratchet” demanded by the MR
The previous record dated October 12, 2022 with €1.5675 per liter.
And the increase will also concern heating oil for fill-ups of more than 2,000 liters. From now on, the price will be 1.6063 € against 1.4183 this Friday.
Orders are becoming rarer for lower and lower volumes
Result: a drop in orders in almost all fuel oil delivery companies. “We have a lot fewer calls,” confirms Daisy, secretary of Number 1 – Braine Mazout. Volume too. The orders we receive are a maximum of 500 liters, no more. People fill their tanks because they have no choice. But they hope that prices will decrease in the coming months to order a larger order again.”
At the Moniquet companies in Jodoigne, we confirm. “Usually, we don’t deliver orders of less than 500 liters,” says Audrey. “But given the prices, it’s difficult to refuse our customers to help them. So we sometimes deliver for 300 liters to help them out, hoping that the prices will decrease.”
Energy prices: the MR and Les Engagés demand the introduction of the “reverse ratchet” on fuels
Audrey explains, however, that orders are significantly fewer than before. “People learned from the energy crisis of 2022. Fuel oil reached €1.5 per liter. Here, we had nearly 600 orders on March 2 and 3 (Editor’s note: first working days after the attack in Iran) because customers were afraid of reliving 2022.”
A good reflex: since then, prices have increased significantly. “We couldn’t guarantee them fixed prices. But it was still significantly cheaper for them when they were delivered than now.”
According to Daisy, the fact that it was very cold in February was fortunate for some, who were able to fill their tanks before the crisis.
An increase of 323% in 10 years!
But for fuel oil suppliers, the situation is not the happiest. “Before, we delivered 2,000 liters in a single order,” says Olivier. “Now, we do it in 4 houses. It costs us money on travel because road diesel is also on the rise.”
And then, the risk is that, when the figures start to decline again, fuel oil suppliers will have to refuse orders in the face of the influx of customers. “We risk having a shortfall in earnings. Especially since we will probably have to extend the days, which can be expensive in terms of labor with the overtime to be paid. No, really, no one is winning in this crisis.”
Record attendance at energy suppliers before the price increase at the start of April
Note that the price of fuel oil has increased, in 10 years, by almost 323%. In January 2016, a liter of fuel oil only cost €0.3885 maximum. To fill a 2,000 liter tank, you only had to pay €777, compared to €3,294 today!
