The United States Consulate General in Casablanca is preparing to move to a new complex in Casa Finance City, the American mission in Morocco announced on Saturday.

All consulate facilities are affected by this move, including the current office located on Boulevard Moulay Youssef and the Dar America cultural center in Gauthier. April 21 will mark the last day of U.S. citizen services and visa operations at the current address, with services resuming at the new address on April 28.

Dar America will close its doors in Gauthier on April 10 and reopen at Casa Finance City on May 5.

During this transition period, emergency assistance for US citizens will remain accessible through US Citizen Services, while visa applicants are encouraged to use the official platform for any questions, the consulate said in a press release.

The new complex is located Rue des Liserons, Pôle Urbain Casa Anfa (20036, Casablanca). It combines contemporary American architecture with Moroccan influences and incorporates sustainable features such as solar energy systems and water-efficient landscaping.

US Ambassador Duke Buchan described the project as “a modern symbol of American diplomacy” and the “enduring 250-year friendship” between the two countries. Consul General Marissa Scott stressed that this new site will improve services and strengthen bilateral ties.

This project represents an investment of more than $300 million, creating hundreds of jobs and contributing up to $100 million to the Moroccan economy during construction. The facility is also in the running for LEED certification.

Morocco, the first country to recognize the United States in 1777, now hosts the oldest and newest American diplomatic sites: the American Legation in Tangier and the new consulate in Casablanca.
