From exploring the solar system to spring gardening, including a literary world tour, the schoolchildren of the Saint-Maurice establishment experience a year rich in varied educational experiences.

At Saint-Maurice primary school, directed by Lorna Mineau, the recent calendar was punctuated by various interventions illustrating the vitality of the educational team and its desire to open young learners to the world.

First highlight: a scientific intervention carried out in partnership with the Vive la science association. Gérard Letreaubleau came to educate the children about the solar system and astronomy. Through a fun teaching approach, children learned the secrets of the universe, were able to understand celestial movements and nourish their scientific curiosity.

The close link with the media library constitutes a second strong axis of this cycle: it is fully part of an educational project around the “world tour”. Each class goes there once a quarter for literature time led by Alice. “The students love coming to the media library. They enjoy listening to stories quietly and being able to choose the books they borrow,” she emphasizes.

After a first stopover in Europe, including stories like The Little Prince, the students continued their journey to Africa then Asia. Oceania and America will complete this journey throughout the year. These sessions allow you to discover a wide variety of media, from kamishibaï to traditional and contemporary tales, encouraging imagination and a taste for reading.

As a spring celebration, the students became apprentice gardeners by planting poppy seeds in the flower boxes on the school grounds. A simple but concrete activity, which introduces them to nature and the cycle of the seasons.

Between science, stories and the environment, the Saint-Maurice structure thus confirms its commitment to offering children living and meaningful learning.
