The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) announced the arrest on its social media channels at 7:13 p.m.

“A person was arrested following an investigation conducted today at the University of Ottawa concerning a suspected individual,” we can read.

“There are no injuries and public safety is no longer threatened,” we added.

The man was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. on Waller Street, downtown, near the University of Ottawa, the SPO released later in the evening in a press release.

The University of Ottawa has now lifted its lockdown. The incident is being resolved, the OPS said.
