The Eldo gallery (Eldorado), a well-known building in the middle of Rue de la Montagne, will finally begin a new life. After several permits were granted which led to nothing, the green light was finally given for the construction of 170 kots for the students of the UCharleroi Campus. Work began on April 2.
The first 2 floors will have 15 kots per level. Then, there will be 28 rooms per level from the 3rd to the 7th floor, some of which will be accessible to People with Reduced Mobility (PRM).
The facade, which will be completely renovated, will however recall the old architectural style of the Eldorado gallery. A particularly well located building, close to shops and the campus.
The private owner of the building has launched the first phase of the work. Objective, end of construction in June 2027.
And the timetable is the same for the old Forem building which is located a few hundred meters from Eldorado on Avenue des Alliés and which will also be transformed into 120 student accommodations. Here, the construction site is already further advanced.
As part of the Eldo works, traffic disruptions are expected during certain phases of the construction site. The offer of kots in Charleroi has been a long time coming, but the implementation phase is now well and truly underway.
