“After a production deficit in September 2025, we are in overproduction: we give milk to whoever wants it! Today, it goes into slurry pits or methane digesters! HAS” Emmanuel Vasseneix is scandalized. This is why the CEO of the Laiterie de Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel (LSDH), near Orléans (Loiret), appealed to the president of the Centre-Val de Loire Region, François Bonneau, to dispose of the surplus of this « 1is aliment de la vie and distribute it free of charge to students in difficult situations “without affecting the remuneration of producers.â€Â»

The “Milk Solidarity” operation, which was launched on April 8 at the Hôtel de Région, will allow LSDH to distribute 600,000 liters of milk per department from this month of April until June via the network of solidarity associations (Food Bank, Secours populaire, Restos du CÅ“ur…), even social grocery stores. “La précarité des étudiants, c’est pas du bla-bla”underlines François Bonneau adding that today “60% of students in the region work alongside their studies.â€Â

The last collective mobilization of its kind was in 2022: in the post-COVID period, a million liters of milk were distributed. If the “Milk Solidarity” operation is aimed at students in need, it should extend to all students at the start of the academic year through one-off animated days. “It’s a way to raise awareness of this noble, protein-rich product and to restore meaning to current food consumption patterns.”concludes Emmanuel Vasseneix.
