The Federal Police, through the Coordination and Support Directorate (DCA) and the Federal Judicial Police (PJF) of Luxembourg, organized its 1st POLFED Day 2026 Luxembourg, an event dedicated to the discovery of the many professions of the Federal Police.

“ The 450 students present come from the final secondary classes of several schools in the province of Luxembourg and Namur, following the security profession options, the police academies aspirants, or even higher education students who have opted for the sections of criminology, economics, law, computer science… explains Pierre Horevoets, the director of the Federal Judicial Police (PJF) of Luxembourg.

“The objective of this first POLFED day organized in the province of Luxembourg was threefold, specifies Christophe Brück, director of the Coordination and Support Directorate (DCA) of the Federal Police. First of all, this day is being held as part of the 25th anniversary of the Federal Police. Then, it was important for us to introduce these young students to the different facets of the Federal Police, in terms of units present in the territory of the province of Luxembourg as well as in terms of units which sometimes come to support Brussels during major organized events. at our place. A diversity of professions and missions was revealed this Thursday, often unknown because most of the time carried out in discretion or anonymity. The ultimate objective is of course to attract these young people to these sectors. For them, it’s often time to make choices!”

IT-related profiles sought

But which profiles does the Federal Police target more specifically. “We won’t teach you anything by telling you that all profiles linked to computing and communication (ICT) are mainly sought after, in particular via our Regional Computer Crime Unit (RCCU), continues Pierre Horevoets. There is now no longer an investigation that does not require the analysis of a mobile phone, a computer or the use of social networks. Furthermore, cybercrime (hacking, fraud, etc.) is booming, including in our province. Another sought-after profile: that of an investigator specializing in economic and financial matters.”

And at the end of this day, the students seemed satisfied with all the information obtained, valuable for their future.

Federal police: two directions for a diversity of missions

In our province, the Federal Police is made up of two directorates: the Coordination and Support Directorate (DCA) and that of the Federal Judicial Police (PJF). Their staff is dispatched to Arlon, Marche and Neufchâteau.

“ The DCA has around 200 people, indicates its director Christophe Brück. It is based on 4 main pillars. The first concerns operational support, particularly for local police, for example during demonstrations or large one-off events. There is also police assistance to victims,… The second pillar is the information and communication service with calls from 101, the district information hub but also everything linked to real-time intelligence such as analysis of ANPR cameras and virtual patrols on social networks. Third pole, that of resource management (personnel, logistics, equipment, budget, infrastructure…) and finally support for development.”

As for the specific missions of the Federal Judicial Police (PJF), they are detailed by its director Pierre Horevoets: “The PJF has around 100 people within it. Its missions are of two types. First of all, investigative missions (organized crime, linked to narcotics, terrorism, radicalism, trafficking in human beings, ECOFIN investigations, certain types of homicides…). Then, there are support missions to the local police in particular via our technical and scientific police laboratory as well as via our Regional Computer Crime Unit (RCCU) for everything relating to cybercrime”.

In addition, other directorates have also been added such as the Federal Highway Police (WPR), the Security Directorate in charge of the court police for the transfer of certain detainees or the Police in charge of the railway based at Libramont station…
