3D simulation, continuous access, interactive content: in spring 2026, the Army Health Academy is deploying “Serval SAN” e-learning. This interactive tool marks a new stage in the digital transformation of learning for military caregivers, thus responding to operational imperatives and the need to scale up training.

At the Army Health Academy, digital technology is becoming an essential lever for training military caregivers for increasingly complex and diversified missions. The challenge is to anticipate and adapt training to varied operational contexts.
To meet the expectations of the Forces Medical Directorate (DMF) and promote mass training of military caregivers, a new module, called e-learning Serval SAN, will be deployed from spring 2026. Objective: to enable military caregivers to master the new protocols for caring for war wounded and to strengthen their preparation for the realities on the ground.
At the origin of this project, the head doctor of services Sonia and her team, attached to the digital education department, designed a complete, interactive and intuitive device, adapted to different levels of experience of caregivers. “Today, training involves simulation and digital technology,” announces the project team.
Additional training
Le e-learning Serval SAN does not replace the traditional training provided at ACASAN, but complements them by offering support to reinforce and extend traditional academic teaching. “The objective is not to replace existing training, but to offer support to review or deepen certain points,” explains ISG2G Nicolas.
Accessible 24/7, this platform offers military caregivers the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge at their own pace. “We wanted to create an interactive tool so that caregivers are immediately operational when they are first used in the field.”
Massification of staff training
Immersed in a 3D simulation of the Serval armored health support vehicle, military caregivers explore a rich interactive environment including more than 50 animations. In just a few clicks, they locate essential equipment (stretchers, straps, switches) and access explanatory videos. “If in doubt, simply reconnect to the GEDISS@ digital platform to review a specific point,” summarizes a project engineer.
Beyond continuing training, “Serval SAN” e-learning accelerates the increase in skills of Army Health Service personnel, particularly in the event of a major commitment. “In a major engagement situation, it may be necessary to train personnel without military experience. E-learning helps accelerate this increase in skills,” concludes the co-designer.
The Serval SAN: an innovative response to the challenges of contemporary conflicts
The Serval SAN is an armored medical vehicle optimized for mobility and versatility:
- With its light and compact design, it is capable of accommodating 2 injured people in a lying position and 2 injured people in a seated position.
- The medical team on board consists of a doctor and a nurse, ensuring complete patient care.
- This vehicle is also designed to withstand various operational constraints, including electricity problems, darkness and harsh weather conditions.
