Toulouse Jean-Jaurès University strikes a major blow against domestic violence. She decided to create emergency accommodation for her students, in tribute to Lison. MCE tells you everything.
University: a scourge too often ignored
Domestic violence does not stop at the gates of university campuses. However, this scourge too often remains invisible among young adults. Student insecurity further aggravates this dramatic situation.
Many young girls feel trapped, without resources and with no place to escape. Student Lison tragically recalled this sad reality in December 2024. She was killed by her ex-spouse on the Mirail campus.
This feminicide therefore shook the entire Toulouse university community. It acted like an electric shock, revealing an emergency. HAS” It’s a femicide that particularly affected us all and it opened our eyes to the real situation at the Mirail university.”declares Rozenn LévÃaque, CFVU appointed for Le Poing Levé, à 20 Minutes.
Face à ce drame, it was no longer just a matter of demonstrating. It was therefore necessary to propose concrete solutions to save lives. According to a study by Sciences Po, 32% of the students questioned suffered physical or sexual violence.
« In young people, gender-based, sexual and domestic violence are underestimated. We trivialize what we have experienced a lot. But the second reason for silence is that we are a precarious population. When you live with a violent person, you don’t have the possibility of leaving, you can find yourself on the street without any fallback solution.”adds the elected student
Emergency accommodation to take shelter
Shame and fear of judgment often prevent them from speaking out. But the first reason for silence remains the absence of fallback solutions. When you live with an abusive partner, leaving can mean going to the street. Financial insecurity then transforms the shared apartment into a prison.
It is this vicious circle that the university has decided to break cleanly. Strong and direct action became essential to protect its students. Preventing these tragedies also requires concrete and immediate actions.
The University of Toulouse does not could no longer sit idly by after Lison’s death. The idea is therefore to offer a way out to those who do not have one. It is about recognizing that domestic violence also affects young people. And that the university institution has a major role to play.
This is why a real revolution is being prepared. Toulouse Jean-Jaurès University validated a historical file in the university life committee. This project provides for the creation of emergency accommodation for student victims.

This system, unique in France, should be finalized at the start of the school year in September 2026. The objective is to obtain at least three secure accommodations for the victims. These apartments will allow rapid shelter.
The students will thus be able to leave their attacker without fear of ending up on the street. This project is a direct tribute to Lison, whose destiny has opened their eyes. Providing shelter means giving victims a chance and dignity.
