The graduation ceremony at the IUT du Creusot brought together 135 students, their loved ones and teaching teams, as part of the establishment’s 50th anniversary. Since 1975, nearly 14,000 students have obtained their degrees, highlighting its major role in the local university landscape. For graduates, this ceremony constitutes a key step, between continued studies and professional integration.
The training offer proposed in 2025 included six courses, including four bachelor’s degrees and two professional licenses. Some of the graduates chose to continue their studies, particularly in engineering schools or on a work-study basis, while others entered directly into the job market. This diversity of background illustrates the professionalizing vocation of the institution.
A lever for equal opportunities
The IUT du Creusot stands out for its role in the democratization of higher education. Its presence allows students to follow a local university course, limiting the costs linked to mobility. Support from local communities also contributes to its development and attractiveness.
The human size of the campus is another asset. Individualized supervision promotes student monitoring and success. University officials emphasize that this proximity reinforces both support and academic standards.
Beyond training, the establishment participates in territorial anchoring and the promotion of local skills. Regional elected officials recall the importance of guaranteeing equitable access to higher education, regardless of social or economic constraints. The IUT thus appears to be a structuring tool for the territory and a springboard towards employment or continued studies.
