The Hérault school map remains pending. Three Sète schools threatened with closure obtain a reprieve before Dasen’s final decision.
The Arago, Michelet and Renaissance schools are not yet out of the woods. The special departmental social administration committee (CSA-SD), which met this Tuesday in Montpellier, was to rule on the future school map for the next school year.
“Fallback CSA” during next week
The three Sète schools, affected by the closure of one class each, obtained a small “extension”. While the Sète school map project was rejected by all union organizations, a “fallback CSA” was planned for next week. Enough to give time to the schools concerned to bring up the figures of their up-to-date numbers, in order to allow Dasen to make an informed decision on the situation in Sète and arbitrate more accurately.
Support from the mayor of Sète Hervé Marquès
This offers a small reprieve to parents and teachers, who were present in the street on Tuesday April 7 to show their anger. The latter, who have obtained the support of Mayor Hervé Marquès, intend to maintain pressure on the academy between now and next week.
In addition, the CSA-SD, which brings together the services of the academic management and the national education union organizations, decided to open, in the Thau basin, an elementary class in Poussan Les Baux and a nursery class in Mireval.
