The match, in the presence of coach Kim Sang-sik in the stands, aroused keen interest among students and football fans. The coach of the Vietnamese national team spoke with the public, offered flowers and encouraged the players before kick-off.

The final between the University of Water Resources and the National University of Malaysia was considered by experts as a “dream final”.

After 90 minutes of exciting play, the two teams drew 1-1. On penalties, the National University of Malaysia won 8-7, thus winning the championship title.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, editor-in-chief of Thanh Nien newspaper, after more than a week of intense competition, the tournament concluded with an exciting final. The organizers hope that the teams will keep memorable memories of their stay, both on and off the field, in the coastal city of Nha Trang.

The National University of Malaysia, winner of the championship, received a prize of 6,000 US dollars. The University of Water Resources placed second (US$4,000) and Svay Rieng University (Cambodia) third (US$2,000). In addition, a style prize worth 1,500 US dollars was also awarded.

The 2nd International Youth and Student Football Tournament – 2026 will bring together 6 participating teams, including: Nha Trang University (host), Thuy Loi University (reigning champion of the Vietnam Youth and Student Football Tournament), National University of Singapore, the University of Laos, the National University of Malaysia and the Svay Rieng University (Cambodia).
