Thanks to a catalog of 330 short films selected by the “Health for All” Film Festival (HAFF) since 2020, the WHO proposed to its partners the quadripartite collaboration “One Health” (FAO, UNEP, WHO, WOAH) to jointly organize this screening-debate on the use of film in health education.

This screening offers a series of around eight short films from different continents, addressing the major themes of the Summit:

  • biodiversity for nutrition
  • the fight against air, water and soil pollution
  • the consequences of climate change on nature and humanity
  • other topics concerning animals, humans and ecosystems, such as antimicrobial resistance and zoonoses.

Join us for a special screening organized by the World Health Organization as part of the One Health Summit. The event will take place at the UGC cinema at the Cité Internationale de Lyon, on Monday April 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This free session invites Summit participants and local people to discover how different countries are developing educational strategies linked to the “One Health” approach. The projection highlights initiatives aimed at young people and professionals from various sectors related to the Summit themes, offering an overview of the challenges and opportunities related to the development of knowledge and expertise on a global scale.

After the screening, refreshments will be served, allowing you to continue the discussion and interact with other participants in an informal setting.

Places are limited, so reserve yours now using the link above.

About the screening and discussion

The films selected for this session come from the official HAFF selection, which favors short films of 3 to 8 minutes – a format designed to facilitate their use in an educational context and during public events such as this one.

You’ll discover a variety of narrative styles, from animated music videos to television reports. This diversity will encourage exchanges between speakers on different effective narrative approaches to raise awareness among various audiences – from children and students to professionals in many sectors.

All the short films presented during this session are part of the HAFF “One Health” playlist on YouTube. We strongly encourage you to discover it and share it (You can activate the French subtitles on YouTube!). After the screening, experts with complementary skills will lead an interactive discussion and invite the audience to ask questions. Together, we will explore how storytelling can help communicate the complex connections between human health, animals and the environment.

Although these interactions are increasingly recognized as essential to our future, they can still seem abstract, particularly because more and more people live in urban areas, far from natural environments that support rich biodiversity. Through the stories, emotions and lived experiences presented in these films, this session aims to deepen our understanding of the challenges of the “One Health” approach across the world.
