“We have to talk about these professions at a very young age, especially to girls. We are faced with this double difficulty: passing on our skills without knowing what our students will become,” says a teacher. “If we want to be at the top in these professions to inform our students, we must remain curious and train, often in our free time,” adds a fellow technology teacher. “Hopefully that artificial intelligence (AI) does not absorb all our jobs,” the small community of teachers is collectively concerned.

“We continue to favor humans over AI…”

The latter, around ten, were invited by the Berger-Levrault group, designer of high-performance software solutions, which, in collaboration with the CGénial Foundation (1), offered on Wednesday April 1 the annual operation called “Professors in Business”. Creating a dialogue between companies and teachers who prepare young people for the careers of tomorrow: this is the mission of this operation, which is 100% part of the issue of linking high schools-universities and the world of work. The objective is clear: to arouse, through teachers, young people’s interest in scientific, technical or digital careers.

In front of the teachers, professional experts from Berger-Levrault parade in turn, each presenting their field of activity. Eight specialists in “tech” professions who all explain in their own way the need to recruit through solid training. “I don’t take anyone below bac +5”, confides at the start of his intervention Alain Duwez, cybersecurity manager. “But here, we continue to favor humans over AI,” reassures the specialist.

AI, a subject previously developed by Jean-Baptiste Vielfaure, manager of the Applied IA lab, which demonstrates what will be the major challenge of tomorrow for digital companies like Berger-Levrault. While warning: “On the technical level, you need to have a background related to IT.”

On arrival for these teachers, a day of training focused on practical issues, and we will regret the too few people present at this operation born to help young people to better integrate into today’s hyper-technical world of work.
