It was a trip organized by the community for 12 students and four chaperones, Aurel LeLièvre, Pauline LeLièvre, Dr. Michel Chiasson and Moira Chiasson, who traveled to Greece.

Students present: Hannah Ross, Briley Romard, Meara Gibbon, Allie Aucoin, Ashton Hinkley, Molly Chiasson, Mairinn Hart, Claire MacPherson, Skylar Shaw, Daniel MacKinnon, Samara MacKinnon and Aaron Fraser.

Dr. Michel Chiasson shared details of their trip: “It was an incredible trip! Our journey through Greece was a perfect blend of history, culture and unforgettable experience.”

Chiasson continued: “Starting in Nafplio, we set out across the Peloponnese, exploring the ancient wonders of Epidaurus and Mycenae, where the stories of early Greek civilization came to life. Along the way, we connected with traditional craftsmanship through a hands-on pottery experience rooted in Mycenaean techniques. Arriving in Olympia, we followed in the footsteps of the original Olympians, visiting the historic site and visiting its renowned archaeological museum.

“We also enjoyed a taste of local culture through an authentic olive oil tasting. From there, our adventure continued towards Delphi, once considered the center of the ancient world. We explored the legendary Temple of Apollo and its museum, gaining insight into the spiritual and political importance of this sacred site before returning to Athens.

“Returning to Athens, we immersed ourselves in the heart of ancient and modern Greece. Highlights included visiting the iconic Acropolis and admiring landmarks like the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike. We also explored the vibrant streets of the Plaka district and saw key landmarks of the city, such as Syntagma Square and the historic Olympic Stadium.”

“Our cultural experience continued with a lively Greek evening filled with traditional food, music, dancing and celebration — an unforgettable taste of local life. To top it all off, we set sail on a cruise through the beautiful Saronic Gulf, visiting the beautiful islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. From charming ports and pistachio treats to picturesque views and sea swimming, it was the perfect way to end an incredible trip, a journey filled with ancient history, hands-on experiences, breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable memories through Greece,” expressed Chiasson.

“Students involved in this community-based (not school) group raised funds from fall 2025 through spring 2026. We thank the community at large for their very generous support, as without their support, these “The students would not have been able to participate in this educational opportunity,” said the group’s leader, Aurel LeLièvre.

As we see photos and videos of their trip that have been shared via social media, it is quite apparent that this trip was “an adventure of a lifetime for many” with memories to cherish forever. It was great to see these students pose with the Cape Breton flag at special landmarks and even do a square set to fiddle music during a navigation. Well done! Congratulations to all involved!
