The event was exclusively reserved for AUF members in the Americas and offered with simultaneous translation in Spanish and Portuguese. The event brought together high-level representatives: presidents, rectors, vice-rectors in charge of research, academic affairs, digital transformation, legal advisors, directors of international relations, and officials dedicated to digital and artificial intelligence. The conference received support from François Gélineau, a member of the AUF Board of Directors.

The keynote speaker, Nicolas Gagnon, the deputy vice-rector and chief information officer at Laval University, shared his institution’s experience during a presentation titled “How artificial intelligence was implemented at Laval University: practical examples, governance, and challenges.”

His presentation highlighted the ongoing transformations in universities in response to the rapid rise of AI. Using concrete cases from Laval University, he illustrated the approaches taken to integrate these technologies into academic activities while ensuring a clear and responsible governance framework.

Discussions explored various key issues for higher education, including the future with AI, guiding principles for its use in teaching and learning, current uses in academic settings, collective capacity, governance, compliance, and institutional strategic priorities.
